How These Online Classes Work: We meet in a live online session once per week. Between these sessions the students do practice exercises, sending in homework two times via email, which I grade and send back with notes.(usually within 24 hours, though only occasionally there may be a delay of 2-3 days) During the session online there will be a presentation on a whiteboard. My voice will be heard and at the same time I show text, pictures, etc. During this online session students are welcome to ask questions, using either a microphone/headset or chat box. This class will meet ONLINE weekly (with the usual holiday breaks). There will be one homework assignment due between sessions, and a second one due just before the online class. AUDITING THE CLASS: If anyone wishes to just sit in on the classes and ask an occasional question, without turning in homework assignments, you are welcome to audit this Latin III course. The total cost to audit is just $125.00/semester. This does not include the grading of papers, but you will receive all homework assignments and extra lesson handouts, etc. Plus a key for some of them upon request. Special Feature: Opportunity to join a Junior Classical League group if you live in the Charlotte, NC area!If you live in the Charlotte, NC area we will meet twice a semester for some extra Latin Fun. We will practice some Latin conversation, and I will help anyone who has questions about the Latin language. We will also be participating in the NC Junior Classical League!Nota Bene: About the fact that the class meets just once a week: Rather than pinning us down to two meetings per week, I feel that it benefits the student more to have the extra individual attention I give them through email interaction. I work very hard to be available to answer questions via email promptly. I have had many students tell me that the feedback they get on homework and through email teaches them as much if not more than the class sessions. I believe that this gives you just as much value as you get with a twice a week class. Find out more about the WizIq "Meeting" software I use here at the WizIq Website. This software is great. It is easy to use. And doesn't cost anything --in fact you don't even need to download anything. It is just accessed through a web browser (like internet explorer). It works with the PC or the Mac. FEATURES Intuitive User Interface: Easy-to-understand controls The teacher or student can draw, highlight and point to items of interest right on the screen Recording of sessions-- This way absent students will be able to review the class later! Who is the teacher? My name is Beth Harvey. I have been
teaching Latin for over 12 years, in schools
and in home school study centers. My three sons studied Latin in homeschooling during part of that time,
too. At home and in all the various tutoring
situations, I've used just about any curriculum you can name!
Henle, Wheelocks, Memoria Press, Canon Press, Latin for
Children, and more! My BA degree is in English. I have also completed a year of postgraduate study
in Latin at UNCC.
