FEATURES of the NEW ONLINE MLC
With the following features, it solves many of the problems we have with a F2F (face to face) classroom:

1- You can come in your nightgown! Or gym shorts--or whatever!
2- Each student can set the thermostat just the way they like it.
3- The whiteboard is easily viewable from every seat, and students can also "write on the board." You can also view any file, picture, or website I have on my desktop.
4- The sessions are recorded, so that if someone misses they can review it!
5- Everyone has a chance to discuss or ask questions through a mic or type in chat box (if you don't have a mic) during discussion time.
6- And--last but not least!  It doesn't require a car or the purchase of ANY gasoline!

HOMEWORK
You will get feedback on your homework via EMAIL!
It will be due one week after the Online Session. Assignments are sent in to me via email and I grade them and send it back to you, with explanatory notes if needed.

LATIN CONCEPTS COVERED are found in the first 5-6 chapters of Wheelock's Latin (see link to book below).
The goal is to master the foundational concepts found in the first few chapters of Wheelock's along with getting an overview of how all Latin verbs and nouns work, so that you will be well prepared to move on into further studies of the grammar. I find that most people try to move too quickly through the first chapters of Wheelock's and don't get a firm foundation.

In the Winter Semester we will finish studying Chs. 6-10. But there is NO commitment to continue on. You will only need to sign up for the Winter Semester if you are able, and desiring to continue with the course.

MATERIALS TO BUY: The Wheelock's Text is the only thing you need to buy. I provide all other Lessons and Exercises via email. It is available in most bookstores, and you can find many used copies of it. The 6th edition is preferable, but the 5th edition will be fine, too. (only difference from 5th to 6th edition is a word or two in some of the sentence exercises)

And for those who would like to study even MORE advanced Latin Concepts... Look for a Mom's Latin II to be offered in the Winter Semester, which will cover approximately Ch. 11-15 of Wheelock's.

About my experience:  I have been teaching Latin for over 10 years, in two schools and in homeschool study centers.  My three sons have been studying Latin in homeschooling during part of that time, too.  At home and in all the various tutoring situations, I've used just about any curriculum you can name!  Henle, Wheelocks, Memoria Press, Canon Press, Latin for Children, and more! My BA degree is in English and I studied Latin for a year at UNCC (and then on my own for several years thereafter).
